I have seen a new twist on an old scam. We all know about the check-cashing scam – I am selling something, and you are going to send me a check for MORE than my asking price, all I have to do it deposit it and send you PART of the money quick before the check bounces and I find out I am on the hook for the total amount.
This was the same scam, but a new approach. Scammers are using the government-supported TDD (telephone device for the deaf) system to avoid using trackable email and to mask their own voice. If you get a call from a TDD operator with an offer to buy your for sale item with an oversized check, you can be sure it is a scam.

Got a reply to a Craigslist ad from and AOL account. But when I replied the return address was a different name a another domain. I checked the second address on your site and found that it had been reported numerous times. I wasn't fooled when the next email tried to get me to visit a web site (safelyclist) that was going to need my credit card number as a safety check to make sure I was legit. It takes nerves to put the onus on me to prove that I am legit while all I am doing is giving them my credit card number.

Looking for a place to rent, someone sent me to a credit report site through a Facebook link... PHISHY!!! Then wouldn't give the address of the supposed rental property. If you are trying to rent something don't you WANT people to come see it? Or map it on Google to see if it is in their area? All kind of suspicious. Watch out for judy@ttzmail.com. On Craigslist is where I ran into them. I Googled their e-mail address and this site came up! Someone else suspected them too!! You can't be safe with anything these days. So sad, we are all fellow human beings, why try to screw each other over????
